Getting Started

The Ground Floor

Have you just walked into your gym for the first time and felt overwhelmed and perhaps a little intimidated by what you found? Or, maybe you are an experienced weight-lifter and are returning from an extended layoff. Whatever your particular situation, this 12-week plan will help you progress up to the level of an advanced lifter. Understand that at the end of 12 weeks, you will not be ready to step into the gym with a competitive bodybuilder and keep pace with him/her. But you will have added mass and strength and you will be ready to start exploring some advanced training techniques such as pyramids, supersets, or tri-sets, which will enable you to gain more strength and pack on even more size.

"The Ground Floor" is your blueprint to success. It is broken down into four steps. Each step is a progression from the previous step. Follow the program and complete the workouts as prescribed.

Firefighter Fitness Program - Beginning Level

Are you a firefighter looking to get fit? Or, are you a non-firefighter looking to become firefighter-fit? This 12-week program is specifically geared towards developing the strength and conditioning needed to perform safely and effectively on the emergency scene.

 

It has been designed with the entry-level trainee in mind. It begins conservatively to allow your body to adapt to the workouts without risking injury from doing too much too fast. The 12-week program will progress you at a scheduled pace to give your muscles and cardiovascular system the time it needs to recover between workouts and adapt to the increased activity and demands being placed upon it. Be patient and trust the process.

This basic 3-day split program breaks your workout week into "push day", "pull day", and "leg day".

This 4-week long program is a simple, but very effective program for building hypertrophy.

4-Day Split Program

This 4-day split divides the body up over four different workouts. This program increases volume by working fewer muscle groups per workout, but doing more work with each group. This split continues to challenge your muscles and keep them growing.

Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday will be rest days.

This 4-week long program is a simple, but very effective program for building hypertrophy.

Iron Tabata Program

This six week program utilizes Tabata Protocol for each workout.

As you complete these intense workouts, you will be stimulating new muscle growth while challenging your anaerobic endurance and cranking up your metabolic furnace. Because this program uses a form of HIIT, you are also going to set yourself up for the "afterburn" that will keep your body's metabolism cranked for several hours following completion of the workouts.

Your workout week will be Monday through Friday with Saturday and Sunday as much needed rest days.
